Abednego

Abednego (meaning servant of Nebo, the Babylonian deity) was the Chaldean name given to Azariah, one of the three young Judean nobles who accompanied Daniel into Babylonian captivity under Nebuchadnezzar. Together with Shadrach (Hananiah) and Meshach (Mishael), he refused to bow before the king's golden image on the plain of Dura and was cast into a superheated furnace, from which all three emerged unharmed through divine intervention. The account, recorded in Daniel 3, became a foundational narrative of faithful endurance under pagan coercion.
