Abel-mizraim (meaning meadow of Egypt or mourning of Egypt) was a place west of the Jordan at the threshing floor of Atad, where the Egyptians and Israelites mourned seventy days for the patriarch Jacob before carrying his body to burial in Canaan (Genesis 50:4–11). The name reflects both the nationality of those who mourned there and the mourning itself. Its precise location is unknown.
