Abiel

Abiel (meaning father of God or pious) is the name of two men in the Old Testament. (1.) The son of Zeror and father of Ner, making him the great-grandfather of King Saul (1 Samuel 14:51; 1 Chronicles 8:33; 9:39). In 1 Samuel 9:1 he may be identified as the grandfather of Saul directly. (2.) One of David's thirty mighty men, an Arbathite (1 Chronicles 11:32), also called Abi-albon in 2 Samuel 23:31.
