Abihail

Abihail (meaning father of might) is the name of five persons in the Old Testament: (1.) A Levite of the family of Merari (Numbers 3:35). (2.) A woman of the tribe of Judah, wife of Abishur (1 Chronicles 2:29). (3.) A Gadite chief (1 Chronicles 5:14). (4.) A wife of King Rehoboam, descendant of Eliab, David's eldest brother (2 Chronicles 11:18). (5.) The father of Esther and uncle of Mordecai (Esther 2:15; 9:29)—the last being the most significant for biblical narrative, as his daughter became queen of Persia.
