Abihu
Person Name
Name meaning: "he is my father"
Abihu (meaning he is my father or worshipper of God) was the second son of Aaron and Elisheba (Exodus 6:23). He was consecrated alongside his father and brothers to the Aaronic priesthood, and he ascended the slopes of Sinai with Aaron, Nadab, and seventy elders to witness the divine glory (Exodus 24:1). His priestly career was cut short when he and his brother Nadab offered strange fire before the LORD—incense kindled contrary to divine command—and both died by fire from the LORD's presence (Leviticus 10:1–2). The incident established foundational principles of priestly worship, and Abihu died without sons.
