Name meaning: "father of the sea"

Abijam (meaning father of the sea) is the name used in the books of Kings for the king of Judah known elsewhere as Abijah—the son and successor of Rehoboam (1 Kings 15:1–8). He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother was Maachah the daughter of Abishalom. Though he walked in his father's sins, the kingdom was preserved for David's sake.
