Abram

Abram (meaning exalted father or high father) was the birth name of the patriarch Abraham before God changed it at the institution of the covenant of circumcision (Genesis 17:5). The name Abram is used throughout the narrative of Genesis 11:27–17:4; subsequent references to him as Abram in later books are typically retrospective. For a full treatment, see Abraham.
