Accuser

Accuser is one of the primary designations of Satan in Scripture. Revelation 12:10 calls him the accuser of our brothers, one who brings charges against believers before God day and night. The same role is implied in Job 1–2, where the adversary (Hebrew śāṭān) appears in the heavenly court to question Job's integrity, and in Zechariah 3:1, where an accuser stands at the right hand of Joshua the high priest to resist him.

In the New Testament the Greek diabolos (slanderer) captures the same concept. Jesus also refers to the devil as the accuser in John 8:44. The accusatory role is overcome not by defensiveness but by the blood of the Lamb and the testimony of the saints (Revelation 12:11).
