Adamah

Adamah (meaning red earth) was a fortified city allotted to the tribe of Naphtali in the distribution of Canaan under Joshua. It is listed among the fortified cities of Naphtali in Joshua 19:36 and is tentatively identified by some scholars with the modern site of Damieh on the west bank of the Jordan, though the identification remains uncertain. The city's name shares the same root as the Hebrew word for ground or soil, suggesting its character as an agricultural settlement in the fertile northern territory.

Beyond its inclusion in Naphtali's territorial list, Adamah receives no further narrative development in the biblical text. Its significance is primarily administrative, marking the northern allotment boundaries of the tribal inheritance granted to Naphtali during the period of the conquest under Joshua.
