Addar
Person
Addar was a son of Bela, the firstborn son of Benjamin, and thus a grandson of the patriarch Benjamin. He is listed in 1 Chronicles 8:3 among the sons of Bela in the genealogy of the tribe of Benjamin. The name Addar, meaning ample or splendid, appears also in the compound form Ard in Genesis 46:21, where he is listed among the seventy souls who went down to Egypt with Jacob, though the relationship between these two forms is a matter of textual discussion among scholars.
Addar figures in no individual narrative in Scripture and is known only through the tribal genealogies. His listing in the Benjaminite lineage confirms the early establishment of the clan structure within that tribe during the period of the Egyptian sojourn.
