Adoram

Adoram is an alternate form of the name Adoniram, referring to the same official who administered forced labor under David and Solomon. The form Adoram appears in 2 Samuel 20:24, where he is listed as being over the levy in David's administrative roster, and in 1 Kings 12:18, where Rehoboam sends him to the northern tribes following the division of the kingdom. The northern Israelites stone him to death in response to Rehoboam's attempt to enforce continued labor obligations — the act that precipitates Rehoboam's flight to Jerusalem.
