Ahiman

Ahiman (meaning brother of a gift or brother of the right hand) is the name of two men in the Old Testament. The first was one of three giant Anakim brothers — Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai — who inhabited Hebron and whose terrifying appearance contributed to the negative report of the ten spies sent by Moses from Kadesh-barnea (Numbers 13:22, 28). Caleb drove them out of Hebron when the land was divided (Joshua 15:14), and the tribe of Judah subsequently defeated and killed them (Judges 1:10).

The second Ahiman was a Levite gatekeeper listed in 1 Chronicles 9:17 among the first inhabitants of Jerusalem after the return from Babylonian exile. The two figures are separated by many centuries and connected only by name, the first belonging to the pre-conquest era and the second to the post-exilic restoration.
