Ahishar

Ahishar (meaning brother of song or brother of a prince) held the position of officer over the household (asher al-habayit) in Solomon's court, a role equivalent to a chief steward or palace administrator — one of the most senior positions in the royal government. He is named in 1 Kings 4:6 in the list of Solomon's principal officials. The palace administrator in the ancient Near East managed the king's domestic affairs, personnel, and logistical support, functioning in some respects as a prime minister for internal affairs.

Ahishar appears only in this administrative roster and is otherwise unknown in the biblical narrative. His position alongside Adoniram (over the levy) and Azariah (son of Zadok, the priest) reflects the complex bureaucracy that Solomon developed to manage the demands of his ambitious building programs and court.
