Ahlab

Ahlab, whose name means fatness or made of fat, was a Canaanite town lying within the tribal territory of Asher in northern Canaan. It appears once in Scripture, in the catalogue of cities whose inhabitants Israel failed to drive out following the conquest (Judg. 1:31). The persistence of Canaanite enclaves in Asher's allotment was a recurring pattern in the north, and Ahlab stands as one example of the incomplete occupation that would generate ongoing tensions for Israel throughout the period of the judges.
