Ahohite

Ahohite is a gentile designation applied in the Old Testament to two of David's elite warriors: Dodo the father of Eleazar (one of the three chief mighty men) and Zalmon, one of the thirty (2 Sam. 23:9, 28; 1 Chr. 11:12, 29). The term denotes descent from Ahoah, son of Bela of the tribe of Benjamin. Its use in the military rosters of 2 Samuel 23 and 1 Chronicles 11 and 27 highlights the Benjaminite contribution to David's professional army, reflecting the integration of soldiers from Saul's tribe into the Davidic military establishment.
