Aholibah

Aholibah, meaning my tent is in her, is the allegorical name applied by Ezekiel to the southern kingdom of Judah (Jerusalem) in the parable of Ezekiel 23. She is the sister of Aholah (Israel/Samaria) and is depicted as having surpassed her sister in unfaithfulness by pursuing alliances and idolatry with Assyria and then Babylon. The name implies that God's sanctuary resided in Jerusalem, making Judah's apostasy all the more inexcusable.

Ezekiel's parable culminates in a divine pronouncement of judgment echoing the fate of Aholah — exile at the hands of the very nations she had courted. The allegory functions as a theological explanation for the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem, locating its cause in Judah's covenant breach rather than Babylon's military superiority.
