Amasiah
Person
Amasiah (meaning burden of Jehovah or sustained by Jehovah) was a military officer under King Jehoshaphat of Judah, described as the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD (2 Chr. 17:16). This description may indicate a special voluntary consecration to military service in honor of God. He commanded a force of two hundred thousand men as part of the large army Jehoshaphat organized for Judah's defense, reflecting the spirit of holy-war tradition in which warriors consecrated themselves to the Lord's service (Judg. 5:9).
