Ammihud

Ammihud (meaning people of glory or renowned people) is the name of several individuals in the Old Testament, primarily fathers of tribal leaders during the wilderness period. (1) Elishama the son of Ammihud was the prince of Ephraim in the wilderness census (Num. 1:10; 2:18; 7:48, 53). (2) Shemuel the son of Ammihud represented Simeon in the allotment of Canaan (Num. 34:20). (3) Pedahel the son of Ammihud represented Naphtali in the same commission (Num. 34:28). (4) A Judahite son of Omri settled in Jerusalem after the exile (1 Chr. 9:4). The name's concentration among tribal representatives reflects its use in prominent Israelite families across multiple tribes.
