Amminadab

Amminadab (meaning kindred of the prince or my people are willing) is most importantly the father of Nahshon (leader of the tribe of Judah in the wilderness) and the father of Elisheba (Aaron's wife, Exod. 6:23). Through both connections — the priestly line of Aaron and the royal line of David — Amminadab stands at a significant genealogical juncture in salvation history. He appears in the genealogy of Christ in both Matthew 1:4 and Luke 3:33, placing him in the direct ancestral line of Jesus.

A second Amminadab was a Levite, son of Kohath, who played a role in transporting the ark to Jerusalem under David (1 Chr. 6:22; 15:10–11). His name being shared by figures in both Judah and Levi illustrates the cross-tribal connections common in this period.
