Amminadib

Person

Amminadib appears in the obscure phrase of Song of Solomon 6:12, where the beloved says her soul made her like the chariots of Amminadib. Interpretation is divided between treating this as a proper name of an otherwise unknown individual renowned for swift chariots, and reading it as a phrase (am-mi-nadib = my willing people) describing eager movement. The Revised Version and many modern translations favor the common-noun reading. If it is a proper name, Amminadib is otherwise unknown in biblical literature, and the proverbial reference to his chariots would have evoked a context now lost.
