Ammishaddai

Ammishaddai (meaning the people of the Almighty or the Almighty is my kinsman) was the father of Ahiezer, the appointed leader of the tribe of Dan in the wilderness period (Num. 1:12; 2:25). Ahiezer commanded the rear guard of the Israelite camp as it marched through the wilderness, and Ammishaddai is mentioned exclusively as his father's identifier. His name, incorporating the divine title Shaddai (God Almighty), reflects the theophoric naming practices common among Israelites of the patriarchal and early tribal period.
