Ammizabad
Person Name
Name meaning: "dowry of the people"
Ammizabad (meaning people of the giver or dowry of the people) was the son of Benaiah, one of David's most renowned mighty men and later Solomon's commander of the army. Ammizabad served in his father's place commanding the third monthly division of David's rotating military organization (1 Chr. 27:6). His appointment reflects the Davidic practice of distributing military command across a broad officer class, with capable sons inheriting their fathers' positions in royal service.
