Amnon

Amnon (meaning faithful or tutor) was the eldest son of David, born of Ahinoam of Jezreel (2 Sam. 3:2; 1 Chr. 3:1). He is remembered primarily for his violation of his half-sister Tamar, the full sister of Absalom (2 Sam. 13). After the assault, he turned against her with contempt equal to his former obsession. David was furious but did not punish him, and Absalom harbored hatred for two years before orchestrating Amnon's murder at a sheep-shearing feast in Baal-hazor (2 Sam. 13:28–29). Amnon's death removed the first claimant to David's throne and set in motion the chain of dynastic violence culminating in Absalom's rebellion.
