Amraphel

Amraphel was the king of Shinar (southern Mesopotamia/Babylonia) who led a coalition of four eastern kings in the campaign against five Canaanite city-kings described in Genesis 14. He is one of the four kings who defeated the kings of the Jordan plain and took Lot captive, prompting Abraham's rescue mission. Scholars of an earlier generation proposed to identify Amraphel with Hammurabi (c. 1792–1750 BC), the Babylonian lawgiver, largely on phonetic similarity, but this identification is now generally rejected due to chronological difficulties and linguistic problems with the proposed equation.
