Arm

The arm is used throughout Scripture as a figure for power, strength, and active agency, particularly as an attribute of God. The arm of the LORD is a prominent biblical metaphor for divine intervention: it was stretched out in the Exodus (Exodus 15:16; Deuteronomy 4:34), and Isaiah appeals to it in his Servant Songs as the instrument of eschatological salvation (Isaiah 51:9; 53:1). A broken arm signifies military defeat (Ezekiel 30:21; Jeremiah 48:25), while a strong arm denotes sovereign power (Psalm 89:13). The concept carries both physical and theological dimensions across both Testaments.
