Armageddon

Armageddon (from the Hebrew Har-Magedon, meaning mount of Megiddo) appears only once in Scripture, in Revelation 16:16, where it symbolically designates the gathering place for the final battle of the great day of God Almighty. The imagery draws on the historic Plain of Esdraelon (the Valley of Jezreel) beneath Megiddo, one of the ancient world's great battlefields where decisive engagements shaped Israel's history—including the death of King Josiah (2 Chronicles 35:22).

Interpreted variously as a literal location, a symbolic scene, or a spiritual conflict, Armageddon in Christian eschatology has come to represent the climactic confrontation between the forces of God and the powers of evil at the end of history.
