Armoury

Concept

An armoury was a storehouse for weapons and military equipment. In the Old Testament, the term is used of the treasury of the house of the forest of Lebanon, which housed Solomon's golden shields (1 Kings 10:17; 2 Samuel 8:7), and of Nehemiah's armoury adjacent to the Water Gate (Nehemiah 3:19). Jeremiah 50:25 speaks of the LORD opening his armoury to bring forth weapons of divine judgment against Babylon—a vivid metaphor of the LORD as a warrior deploying his arsenal.
