Ashteroth Karnaim

Ashteroth Karnaim (meaning Ashtoreth of the two horns, possibly reflecting a double-horned goddess) was an ancient city of the Rephaim in Bashan, mentioned in Genesis 14:5 as one of the cities defeated by Chedorlaomer and his allies in their campaign against the eastern Jordan valley before the rescue of Lot by Abraham. It may be identified with or near the biblical Ashtaroth, and is tentatively located at the modern site of Sheikh Sa'ad in the Hauran.
