Ashurites

The Ashurites are mentioned in 2 Samuel 2:9 as one of the groups over whom Ish-bosheth, Saul's son, was made king by Abner after Saul's death. Their identity is uncertain—they may represent the tribe of Asher, or a group of Israelites in the Transjordanian region. The text is brief and the term appears only in this single reference.
