Asnapper

Asnapper is described in Ezra 4:10 as a great and noble Assyrian king who transported various peoples into the cities of Samaria, continuing the Assyrian resettlement policy that had been practiced since the fall of the northern kingdom. Most scholars identify him with Ashurbanipal (669–627 BC), known to classical sources as Sardanapalos, the last great Assyrian king, renowned for his library at Nineveh and his military campaigns. His settlers in Samaria later became the mixed population associated with the Samaritans.
