Athaliah

Athaliah (meaning whom God afflicts or the time of the LORD) was the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel, who married Jehoram king of Judah, introducing Baal worship into the southern kingdom. After her son Ahaziah was killed by Jehu, she seized the throne of Judah—the only woman to reign over either kingdom—by massacring all the royal heirs. One infant, Joash (Jehoash), was hidden by the priest Jehoiada and his wife in the temple for six years.

In her seventh year, Jehoiada staged a coup: Joash was crowned, and Athaliah was led out of the temple and executed. Her six-year reign (circa 841–835 BC) represents the nadir of the Davidic dynasty's continuity and the deepest penetration of Omride influence into Judah.
