Bashan-havoth-jair

Bashan-havoth-jair (meaning the Bashan of the tent-villages of Jair) was the name given to the region of Argob in northern Bashan by Jair son of Manasseh, who captured sixty cities there after the conquest (Deuteronomy 3:14). The name refers to the sixty unwalled towns or tent-villages—havoth—he settled. The same territory later formed part of the administrative district of Ben-geber under Solomon (1 Kings 4:13).
