Bashemath

Bashemath (meaning sweet-smelling or perfumed) is the name of two or three women in the Esau narratives. (1.) A daughter of Ishmael and the last wife of Esau, also called Mahalath (Genesis 36:3; cf. 28:9), who became the mother of Reuel. (2.) A daughter of Elon the Hittite, also named among Esau's wives (Genesis 26:34). The apparent discrepancies in naming Esau's wives reflect the complexity of the Genesis sources. Bashemath is also mentioned as the name of a daughter of Solomon who married Ahimaaz (1 Kings 4:15).
