Bdellium

Bdellium (Hebrew bedolah) is mentioned in Genesis 2:12 as one of the products of the land of Havilah, alongside gold and onyx stone. In Numbers 11:7 the appearance of manna is compared to it. The word may refer to a fragrant resin (bdellium gum, from an Arabian shrub), a pearl, or possibly a crystal or other translucent substance; ancient translators and modern scholars differ. Its association with gold and precious stone in Genesis suggests something of value, while its comparison to manna in Numbers points to a pale, whitish appearance.
