Bealoth

Place Name

Name meaning: "cast under"

Bealoth (meaning citizens or mistresses) was a town in the extreme south of Judah (Joshua 15:24), in the Negev district. It is also mentioned in 1 Kings 4:16 in connection with one of Solomon's administrative districts, possibly as a different location in the north of Israel (Aloth). The Judean Bealoth may be identified with the village of Khirbet Ghazzeh in the Negev.
