Beer-elim

Beer-elim (meaning well of heroes or well of the mighty ones) was probably the same site as Beer in Numbers 21:16, where Israel's chiefs dug a well in the wilderness. The name appears in Isaiah 15:8 in the oracle against Moab, describing the cry of distress that will reach even to Beer-elim—suggesting it was a place on the southern boundary of Moab or in the broader region. The association with heroes or princes reflects the memorable occasion when the leaders of Israel dug the well with their own staffs.
