Ben-ammi
Person Name
Name meaning: "son of my people"
Ben-ammi (meaning son of my people or born of incest) was the son of Lot by his younger daughter, born after the destruction of Sodom in the cave where the daughters had gotten their father drunk (Genesis 19:38). He became the ancestor of the Ammonites (Bene-ammon), the people of Ammon, whose territory lay east of the Jordan. Like Moab (the son of the elder daughter), Ben-ammi's origin story contextualizes Israel's often-hostile relationship with the Ammonites throughout the Old Testament narrative.
