Cabul

Cabul (meaning displeasing or dirty) is the name of two locations in the Old Testament. (1.) A town on the eastern border of the tribe of Asher (Joshua 19:27), identified with the modern village of Kabul in Galilee, about nine miles southeast of Acre. (2.) The name given by Hiram, king of Tyre, to the twenty cities of Galilee that Solomon ceded to him in partial payment for the cedar and cypress timber and gold used in constructing the temple and palace in Jerusalem (1 Kings 9:13; 2 Chronicles 8:2). Hiram found the cities displeasing and called the district Cabul, a name expressing his dissatisfaction with the gift.
