Carmi

Carmi (meaning my vineyard or lamb of the waters) is the name of two men in the Old Testament. (1.) A son of Reuben and grandson of Jacob who came to Egypt with the family (Genesis 46:9; Exodus 6:14), and founder of the Carmite clan (Numbers 26:6). (2.) A descendant of Judah listed in the genealogy of 1 Chronicles 4:1, sometimes identified as a son of Zimri. Most significantly in terms of narrative, Carmi was the father of Achan, the man of the tribe of Judah who violated the ban on the spoils of Jericho by secretly taking a Babylonian garment, silver, and gold — an act that brought defeat at Ai and resulted in Achan's execution by stoning (Joshua 7:1–26).
