Chambering

Chambering appears in the Authorized Version of Romans 13:13 as the rendering of the Greek koitais (literally beds), referring to sexual immorality and illicit behavior. Paul urges believers to conduct themselves as in the daytime — not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. The term denotes the licentiousness associated with the banquet and bedroom culture of Hellenistic Rome, against which early Christian ethical teaching consistently stood.
