Charashim

Charashim (meaning craftsmen) was a valley mentioned in 1 Chronicles 4:14 as a place settled by the descendants of Joab son of Seraiah, a skilled craftsman of Judah. The same name appears in Nehemiah 11:35 as one of the towns settled by Benjaminites after the exile from Babylon. The designation valley of craftsmen suggests an industrial settlement known for its artisans — likely woodworkers, metalworkers, or stonecutters — whose guild identity became identified with the geographic location. The site is tentatively identified with Wadi el-Qelt east of Jerusalem.
