Chimham

Chimham (meaning pining or as they; like to them) was probably the youngest son of Barzillai the Gileadite, the wealthy supporter who supplied David with provisions during his flight from Absalom and afterward came to escort the king back across the Jordan. When David offered to repay Barzillai with a place at the royal court in Jerusalem, the aged Barzillai declined on account of his age and sent Chimham in his place (2 Sam. 19:37–40). David promised to do for Chimham whatever he wished (2 Sam. 19:38; 1 Kgs. 2:7). The inn of Chimham near Bethlehem (Jer. 41:17) probably commemorates land David gave to this family, preserving his name in the landscape for generations.
