Chor-ashan

Chor-ashan (meaning smoking furnace) was one of the towns to which David sent gifts of spoil after his defeat of the Amalekites who had raided and burned Ziklag (1 Sam. 30:30). The same location may appear as Ashan in Joshua 15:42 and 19:7 in the tribal allotments of Judah and Simeon. The town lay in the Negev region of southern Judah and Simeon, among the communities that had supported David during his period of refuge and guerrilla activity before he became king.
