Chorazin

Chorazin (meaning the secret or here is a mystery) was a city in Galilee named alongside Bethsaida and Capernaum in Jesus's pronouncement of woe against towns that had witnessed mighty works but had not repented (Matt. 11:21; Luke 10:13). Jesus's declaration that it would be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for Chorazin marks it as a site of significant miraculous ministry not otherwise recorded in the Gospels — a reminder that the canonical accounts are selective (cf. John 21:25). The site has been identified with Khirbet Kerazeh, about two miles north of Capernaum, where ruins of a second-century synagogue have been excavated.
