Chrysoprasus

Chrysoprasus (Greek chrysoprasos, meaning golden leek) is mentioned once in Scripture as the tenth of the twelve stones in the foundations of the New Jerusalem's walls (Rev. 21:20). In antiquity the term referred to a golden-green variety of stone, possibly a green nickel-bearing chalcedony or an apple-green variety of quartz. The color of leek's juice — a fresh yellow-green — gives the stone its Greek name. Like the other foundation stones of Revelation 21, it echoes the gemstones of the high priest's breastplate and the jewels of Eden's garden described in Ezekiel 28:13, pointing to continuity between the tabernacle symbolism and the heavenly city.
