Chub
Concept
Chub appears in Ezekiel 30:5 in a prophetic oracle against Egypt, listed among Egypt's allies who would fall together under the coming judgment of Nebuchadnezzar: Cush, and Put, and Lud, and all Arabia, and Libya, and the people of the land that is in league, shall fall with them by the sword. Some Hebrew manuscripts and translations read Chub as a variant of Libya (Lub) or as an otherwise unknown North African or Near Eastern people. The Septuagint omits the name or reads it differently. Its precise identification remains uncertain, but it belongs to the catalog of African and Near Eastern nations whose fortunes were bound up with Egypt's in the prophetic vision of Babylonian conquest.
