Council of Ephesus

The Council of Ephesus (431) was the third ecumenical council. It condemned the teaching of Nestorius, affirmed that Mary is rightly called Theotokos (“God-bearer”), and vindicated the Christology of Cyril of Alexandria — confessing that the one Christ is both fully God and fully man. The Catena Aurea cites it as a conciliar authority alongside the individual Fathers.
