Daberath

Daberath (also spelled Dabareh, meaning same as Dabareh) was a Levitical town on the border of Zebulun and Issachar, located at the foot of Mount Tabor (Joshua 19:12). It was assigned to the Levites of the Gershonite family as one of their forty-eight cities (Joshua 21:28; 1 Chronicles 6:72). Modern scholars generally identify it with the village of Deburiyeh on the northwestern slope of Mount Tabor, still bearing a cognate name. The site is possibly connected to the incident in Matthew 17:14 (and parallels) where Jesus descended from the mountain of transfiguration into a crowd below.
