Dalmanutha

Dalmanutha (meaning a bucket or a branch) was a place on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee where Jesus withdrew with his disciples after the feeding of the four thousand (Mark 8:10). Matthew's parallel account calls the same location Magadan (Matthew 15:39), which is likely identified with ancient Magdala (modern Migdal). The exact site of Dalmanutha remains uncertain; it may have been a district name or a smaller locality near Magdala. Jesus was immediately confronted there by Pharisees and Sadducees seeking a sign from heaven, which he refused to give, instead departing by boat.
