Dalmatia

Dalmatia (meaning deceitful lamps or vain brightness, though the etymology is uncertain) was a Roman province on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea, corresponding roughly to modern Croatia and Bosnia. It is mentioned once in the New Testament, in 2 Timothy 4:10, where Paul reports that Titus has gone to Dalmatia — presumably for missionary work. Romans 15:19 may imply Paul himself had evangelized "as far as Illyricum," the broader region of which Dalmatia was a part, suggesting that the Christian faith reached this area during Paul's third missionary journey or through subsequent workers.
